About Charlotte Newton

Having lived and worked as a Winemaker and Wine Educator in Margaret River for the past 18 years, Charlotte Newton is highly poised to guide you through all stages of wine evaluation. Whether you are a budding wine enthusiast, sommelier or winemaker, Charlotte will help you taste your way around the world’s leading wine regions through a series of sensory evaluation courses at the Charlotte Newton Wine School.
Charlotte’s vast knowledge of this world-class wine region and practical approach to understanding wine, have been key to her success as a Wine Educator. Let her give you the confidence to sip, swirl and understand the unique nuances of each wine variety and its provenance.

It was whilst she was living in New Zealand in the 1990s that Charlotte developed a fascination for wine and wanted to unearth the stories within each bottle. After completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Viticulture and Oenology at Lincoln University, Charlotte moved to Australia where she completed vintages in the Hunter, Barossa and Yarra Valleys with prestigious wineries such as St Hallett and Coldstream Hills.

European wines have long held a fascination for Charlotte, who seized the opportunity to work as a winemaker in France’s renowned Languedoc and Chablis regions. This is where her interest in Chardonnay deepened. Once the seed was sown, Charlotte moved to Margaret River to finesse her knowledge of Chardonnay at Devil’s Lair winery.

ChaCha Wines

ChaCha Chardonnay

Situated in the southern corner of Western Australia lies one of the world’s greatest wine producing regions, Margaret River. It is here where Charlotte Newton’s ChaCha wines are carefully crafted using traditional European techniques.
Exceptional fruit from the southern parts of Margaret River has been used to create the ChaCha 2022 Chardonnay. This is a wine that speaks of provenance, reflecting the pristine environment in which the grapevines are grown. Whole bunches of fruit have been hand-picked and gently pressed, then allowed to ferment naturally before a leisurely maturation in French oak barriques to add complexity and build the flavour profile.
